THE BIRDS AND THE BEES

Gardening for People and Wildlife

Big or small Birds and Bees will help you plan it all!

If you have an established garden or if you are starting from scratch - The Birds and the Bees expertise can make it into a wildlife haven!

Can't think of what to do with your small garden?  We specialise in small gardens that would otherwise be paved and create somewhere special for you to chill out.

We design gardens using plants and trees that are not only of most benefit to insects but also either bear fruits, nuts or have medicinal qualities.  We also like to incorporate lots of perfume and colour in our gardens.

The Birds and Bees are the recipient of Swindon Borough Council Quality of Life and the Environment Award and is your wildlife friendly gardening consulatant.

The Birds and Bees are also Consultant with Hab Housing in association with BBC TV on a sustainable development project in Swindon, due to be serialised by BBC TV.

The Birds and Bees garden is featured in Wiltshire Wildlife promotions on small spaces.

A typical Birds and Bees garden has fruit, vegetables, herbs,  your own wildflower pharmacy and of course perfume and colour.

A water feature is essential in a Birds and Bees garden, even a birdbath will attract a variety of wildlife to bathe and drink.

Perhaps you would like a mini meadow to encourage more butterflies and moths, we can help there too -  just think no more mowing the lawn!

But the main feature of a Birds and Bees garden is that of being  in tune with your needs and that of nature and therefore a peaceful haven for you to relax in.

Focusing on your needs and life style we design your garden with a 3D 'fly through' program that gives you an idea of what it will look like once established.

We also carry out maintainance on your garden should you require.

Many Butterflies and moths have a close association with particular wildflowers for feeding or breeding.

This lovely Six Spotted Burnet moth relies  on Birdsfoot Trefoil .

The Cinebar above and Hawkmoth below are also plant specific.

Our designs incorporate the principles of  flora locale perma culture, organic gardening and companion planting companion along with the use of natural insect repellants.  No chemical insecticides or poisons are used in our gardens as they kill the good guys as well as the not so desirable.

We also furbish you with details of the wildflowers planted and their medical uses.
